ForadCamp 2024 Announces the XIII Nature Film Exhibition

October 26 and 27 in Figaró-Montmany: quality cinema and activities in the heart of nature

ForadCamp 2024, the XIII Nature Film Festival, has announced the dates for its next edition, which will take place on October 26 and 27 in Figaró-Montmany, a privileged natural setting at the foot of the Montseny Natural Park. Once again, the festival will offer a selection of feature films where nature takes center stage, whether as the protagonist, the setting, or an essential element.

This year, ForadCamp will present five cinematic works, both documentaries and fiction, standing out for their variety of origins and approaches, reaffirming its commitment to personal, innovative, and independent cinema.

Among the selections are the most recent works of two directors who have already made their mark in previous editions. La hojarasca, by Macu Machín, is a hypnotic piece that explores the passage of time and the connection between a family of women and the landscape they inhabit. Meanwhile, «El bon auguri», by Alba Bresolí, is a poetic and profound story about natural cycles and their symbolic relationship with human lives.

The festival will also offer a global perspective with films that address current issues. Searching for Nika, by Stanislav Kapralov, provides a poignant chronicle of the impact of war and the power of solidarity in the midst of conflict. On the other hand, First Cow, by renowned director Kelly Reichardt, sensitively narrates a story of friendship, survival, and the relationship with the environment in a wild landscape.

This year, ForadCamp Kids will offer a space designed especially for families, with the screening of Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds, by Benoît Chieux. This magical and fantastical film invites both young and old to embark on a brave and captivating adventure.

Additionally, guided as always by the Aprèn team, we will take a hike through Sot del Bac and the Congost Valley. Don’t forget to reserve your tickets!

ForadCamp is a film festival organized by the Figaró-Montmany City Council and coordinated by the Independent Documentary Filmmakers Association INDOC. Year after year, the event seeks to connect the natural environment with high-quality, personal cinema with a strong innovative spirit.

ForadCamp 2022 Festival Awards

The XI edition of ForadCamp Nature and Film Festival took place in Figaró-Montmany on September 17 and 18. In addition to the Official Competitive Section, other outdoor spaces and activities related to cinema have been offered, at the foot of the Montseny Natural Park. A total of two hundred people have enjoyed high quality and personal cinema in which nature is the protagonist, context or reason for reflection.

A solid and diverse Official Section has shown a dozen works from the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany, co-productions from South Africa and France, Hungary and Belgium, and a wide presence of shorts from the Spanish territory.

The jury for this edition, composed by Cloe Masotta, Rubén Margalló and Federico Delpero, has awarded the Best Short Film Award (awarded the ForadCamp Rain Trophy and €300 in cash), for «Can Gardell», by Sílvia Subirós and Florencia Aliberti, “for the projection of a critical gaze, full of irony, to a rural world presented as a neoliberal fetish.” The jury has also awarded a special mention to «The day they blew up the mountain», by Alba Bresolí Aliberch, “for showing the capacity of cinema to preserve the vestiges of a reality in extinction. »

The Distribution Award, sponsored by Festhome and awarded by the INDOC Association, went to «Some Kind of intimacy» by Toby Bull, «for being an honest portrait in which the director, with minimal brushstrokes, depicts the relationship between human beings and nature, between life and death”.

The Special Mention granted by the Granollers Cultural Association, has been ‘ex aequo’ to the films: «Memory», by Nerea Barros and «The day that They blew up the mountain», by Alba Bresolí Aliberch. The mention has been granted in recognition of the work and good use of narration, photography and montage.

And, finally, the Audience Award has gone to «The day they blew up the mountain», by Alba Bresolí Aliberch.

2019 Award Winners

FORADCAMP 2019 AWARD LIST

These are the award winners of ForadCamp 2019, 8th Nature and Cinema Exhibition.

Lotus, by Mohammadreza Vatandoust (Iran, 2018, 14’)

«Lotus», by Mohammadreza Vatandoust, obtained the Best Documentary Jury Award 2019.

The Jury, composed of Ricardo Íscar, Núria Campabadal and Maria Alcázar, awarded the Jury Prize for Best Documentary, to «Lotus», by Mohammadreza Vatandoust. The Jury awarded it «for making a portrait of a person and a landscape, for the human and political dimensions of history, and for its great cinematic quality«.
Also, the Jury granted a Special Mention to «Floureja», by Pablo Heuson, «for the high quality of its formal and stylistic approach to the subject of the film«.
The Audience Award went to «All inclusive«, by Corina Schwingruber Ilić.

Distribution Prize sponsored by Festhome and awarded by INDOC, was for the short «Los rugidos que alejan la tormenta», by Santiago Reale, «for portraying with sincerity and simplicity the life of a boy who has decided to live in nature, finding there his place in the world, and as a plea for the absolute freedom of human beings to lead their lives«.
Granollers Cultural Association Mention was for «Lotus«, «for the excellent cinematic treatment, for the clarity of the message and for the emotiveness of his footage«.
«Peix al forn», by Guillem Miró, obtained the Children’s Jury Price ForadCamp Kids 2019.
Children’s Jury Prize, chosen by a Jury made up of five children under 12 years old, was awarded to «Peix al forn», by Guillem Miró because «the film teaches us that if we do not take care of nature, we will end up with the fishes of the sea and will have to eat plastic«.

ForadCamp 2017 award winners

Sunday night we knew the award winners of ForadCamp 2017, 6th Nature and Cinema Exhibition.

Nature: all rights reserved, de Sebas Mulder

- - The Jury, composed of Eulàlia Iglesias, Jorge Caballero and Arturo Redín, awarded the Best Documentary Jury Award, endowed with € 300, to the short «Nature: all rights reserved» by Sebastian Mulder. The Jury awarded the film «For offering the audience an space to re-examine the relationship we humans have with nature, in a postmodern society, from a self reflective and ironic consciousness.»
  - Besides, the Jury gave a Special Mention to «Ur Artean», by Íñigo Jiménez and Jesús María Palacios. The Jury valued the film’s desire to «reconstruct the history of fascinating and mysterious figures, through a story about the loneliness of the human being in the midst of nature.«
  - The Audience Award went to Sebastian Mulder’s «Nature: all rights reserved.»
  - The Festhome Distribution Prize, consisting of bonus for the international distribution of the short, was for «E.B.C. 5,300 m«, by Léonard Kohli. INDOC, the association which gave the award, has valued the short film’s ability to «portray life in a critical and beautiful way at Everest Base Camp, showing with subtlety and proximity the tourist massification of adventure.«
  - Granollers Cultural Association Mention has been for «My cat in me«, by Katinka Baehr and Stefanie Visjager. The Jury highlighted «the good experimental work, the aesthetic originality and the density of the script«.

Sunday night we knew the award winners of ForadCamp 2016, 5th Nature and Cinema Exhibition.

Trophy of the Jury’s Best Documentary 2016

The Jury, composed by Elisabet Prandi, Carme Mayugo and Jordi Morató, gave the Best Documentary Award, endowed with 300 €, to the short «Nobody dies here«, by Simon Panay.
Also, the Jury decided to give a Mention to «Fóra do continente» by Nico Martínez Millán.
Granollers Cultural Association Award, consisting on the screening of the selected short at Dimarts Singulars Exhibition held at the Granollers Film Club went to «Miejsce», by Julia Popławska.
Audience Award: «Som pastor,» by Borja Zausen.
Distribution Prize, sponsored by Clickforfestivals, consisting on bonus for the distribution of the selected short in international festivals went to «165/60«, by Anton Brutski.

Awards and Jury of ForadCamp 2016

The 5th Nature and Cinema Exhibition, ForadCamp 2016, will be held in the New Casino Figaró of Figaró–Montmany village, on October 8 and 9, 2016.

The short films in the Official Section of ForadCamp 2016 will compete for the Jury Award, Audience Award and Distribution Prize.

Lisa Birke, Jury Award of ForadCamp 2015 for «Calendar girls».

The Best Documentary Award will be endowed with €300 and will be chosen by a Jury of film professionals.
The Audience Award will be decided according to the results of the audience vote held in the theater the day of the screening.
The Distribution Prize, sponsored by Clickforfestivals, will consist of bonus for the distribution of the selected short in international festivals.
The Granollers Cultural Association Award will consist on the screening of the selected short in the Dimarts Singulars Exhibition held at the Granollers Film Club.

The Jury of this year will be formed by:

Elisabet Prandi. She’s director and director of photography. She studied cinematography at the FEMIS (École Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l’Image et du Son), and also graduated from the IEFC (Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia). She directed several documentaries and visual works which were broadcasted in televisions, festivals and various museums around the world. As director of photography, she has worked for different directors like Marta Balletbó-Coll and Pere Portabella.

Carme Mayugo. She’s edu-comunicator and exjournalist. From Teleduca, she designs and coordinates participatory audiovisual creation processes based on community revitalization. Since 2000, she has worked as a producer and self-production documentary consultant. She has tutored more than 50 projects, many of them being documentary teacher at the Escola de la Dona of the Barcelona Provincial Council. She’s a PhD in Communication and Media Education Community by the USC (University of Santiago de Compostela), where she’s part of Cidacom research group and REAL-CODE network.

Jordi Morató. He is a director, screenwriter and editor. Graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the UPF (Pompeu Fabra University), he has a Master in Creative Documentary IDEC-UPF andhe’s a Technician in Audiovisual Production and Performances by EMAV (School of Audiovisual Media Barcelona). His latest film, Sobre la marxa (2014), has been selected in over 50 international festivals and was awarded 13 prizes. His first work, «Camí de terra» (2012), won the Jury Award at Foradcamp 2012.
